The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, stated, "In 2024, while employment increased by 984,000 people annually, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.7 points to 8.7%, the lowest level since 2012."

Minister Şimşek shared on his social media account, "Despite the weak performance in external demand and the short-term effects of disinflation in 2024, our economy continued to produce and create employment. After the contraction in the second and third quarters of last year, a strong increase of 3.4% was achieved in the last quarter. Thus, industrial production increased by 0.4% over the year. In 2024, while employment increased by 984,000 people annually, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.7 points to 8.7%, the lowest level since 2012. Thanks to the gains we achieved through the program, the Turkish economy is now much more resilient and significantly stronger in terms of macro-financial stability," he expressed.
