DAILY ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION EXCEEDED 1 MILLION MEGAWATT-HOURS
According to the updated data from Turkey's Electricity Transmission Corporation, 1 million 217 thousand 882 megawatt-hours of electricity was produced yesterday, while consumption was recorded as 1 million 211 thousand 289 megawatt-hours. This consumption marked the highest level seen on a daily basis.
INCREASE IN AIR CONDITIONER USAGE WITH RISING TEMPERATURES
As air temperatures rose across the country, the increased use of air conditioning and agricultural irrigation contributed to the peak in electricity consumption. The previous highest level of electricity consumption was recorded on July 23, 2024, at 1 million 208 thousand 706 megawatt-hours.
Yesterday, the highest electricity consumption occurred at 3:00 PM with 57 thousand 802 megawatt-hours, while the lowest consumption was recorded at 7:00 AM with 38 thousand 936 megawatt-hours. Natural gas plants ranked first in production with a share of 29.3%. This was followed by imported coal plants with 19.2% and dam-based hydroelectric plants with 16.1%.
Turkey exported 15 thousand 496 megawatt-hours of electricity and imported 8 thousand 903 megawatt-hours yesterday.
