Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek announced during his speech at the Divan Council meeting that the club has terminated its agreement with the Banks Association as of July 22. Özbek's remarks were met with a standing ovation.

"WE HAVE TERMINATED THE BANKS' UNION AGREEMENT"

Özbek, in his speech that was applauded by the members, stated, "As of July 22, Galatasaray has terminated the Banks' Union agreement and has successfully completed one of the most important stages for its financial independence. During our three-year term, we paid 4.7 billion TL in principal and interest. To express how the amount of interest we paid over the years has worn us down, the figures need to be known. The annual interest had reached 40 million dollars. Now we are experiencing the joy of getting rid of this.

Galatasaray is the first club to set the goal of exiting the Banks' Union. Although our competitors sometimes criticized this project, in the end, they all came to agree with what we said. I am also happy that we have led the football family in this regard.

Whatever we said, we are doing the same. Whatever promise we made to you, we stood behind it and made the utmost effort to fulfill it. I send my greatest thanks to you, the general assembly members. Because you believed in me and my friends, you supported us. This support was very valuable. You cannot imagine what kind of emotional state it put me in to fulfill the promise we made to you.

We successfully concluded the Florya tender. I thank the Tender Commission Chairman Adnan Polat and the members. The tender specifications were prepared in a way that protects Galatasaray's rights and does not create concerns for Galatasaray's future. We received an advance payment of approximately 50 million dollars in TL. With the advance we received, we paid off our debt to the Banks' Union. A portion of it remains in our treasury, and we will pay off our old debts.

We must work much harder to leave Galatasaray in the best possible way for those who will come after us. We will dream of being the biggest club in the world, not just a club that everyone in Turkey envies. Galatasaray will live on, and it will always achieve more. Let everyone know this," he said.
