DEVA Party leader Babacan said they are working on a new political model for the upcoming elections. Babacan stated that the New Path Group could transform into an alliance structure in the future, adding that this model may include other parties and independent politicians besides DEVA, Saadet, and Future Party.
DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan announced that they are working on a new political model for the upcoming elections during a meeting with journalists in Antalya. Babacan stated that the New Path Group established in Parliament could evolve into a broader alliance structure in the future.
SIGNAL OF EXPANSION FOR THE NEW PATH GROUP
Babacan indicated that the New Path Group, formed by DEVA, Saadet, and Future Party, may not be limited to these three parties. He mentioned that within the scope of the new model, contacts could be established with different political parties and independent figures, saying, "We see it possible and likely for the New Path Group to transform into an alliance structure in the upcoming period."
DOORS CLOSED TO COOPERATION WITH AK PARTY
Commenting on the possibility of reuniting with the AK Party, Babacan emphasized that the reasons for the split remain valid. Drawing attention to issues of unlawfulness, injustice, lack of will in fighting corruption, and problems of merit, Babacan stated that cooperation is not possible under the current conditions.
Babacan noted that he does not see a strong will for change in President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the AK Party, saying, "As of today, we do not see such a strong will for change in the AK Party or Mr. Erdoğan. In fact, we do not see even a trace of will for change. Therefore, in such an environment, it is frankly difficult to come together and talk again."
"WE HAVE DIRECTED OUR ENERGY TO A NEW ALTERNATIVE"
Stressing the need to avoid definitive statements in politics, Babacan said they act based on the current picture. "It would be more beneficial to act based on the realities we see rather than unlikely possibilities, so we do not waste our energy. Currently, all our focus and energy are concentrated on building a new alternative," he said.
NEW MODEL AGAINST TWO-POLAR POLITICS
Babacan stated that with the new political model, they aim to avoid leaving voters between two-polar politics, saying, "We do not want to tell our citizens that there are two options, black and white, and to choose one of them; we do not want to imprison politics in such a black-and-white pole and make it barren."
Babacan noted that there is a strong demand in society in this direction and that work continues accordingly.
