The Center for Combating Disinformation issued a statement following footage shared with the claim that the Turkish flag was attempted to be taken down in Azerbaijan. The DMM, stating that the footage was dated, reported that the incident was presented as if it had just occurred and that the claims that the Turkish flag was taken down did not reflect the truth.
A statement came from the Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) regarding posts claiming that attempts were made to take down the Turkish flag in Azerbaijan. DMM stated that the images circulating on social media are old and that the claims that the Turkish flag was taken down do not reflect the truth.
THE IMAGES TURNED OUT TO BE OLD
In the statement made on DMM’s social media account, it was emphasized that the images shared in some media outlets and social media accounts do not belong to a new incident. In the statement, it was stated that during the period when the images were taken, the first and harshest reaction to the person who tried to make a negative attempt against the Turkish flag was given by Azerbaijanis.
The Center underlined that no situation such as the taking down of the Turkish flag occurred.
“TURKEY-AZERBAIJAN RELATIONS ARE BEING TARGETED”
In the DMM statement, it was stated that sharing old images out of context as if they were new targets the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between Turkey and Azerbaijan.
In the call made to the public, it was requested that such content spreading on social media be approached with caution and that official statements be taken into account.
