In a joint statement regarding Iran's retaliation against the attacks by the US and Israel, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that they are ready for "necessary and proportionate defensive actions," including those aimed at destroying Tehran's drone and missile launch capabilities.
"WE ARE HORRIFIED BY IRAN'S ATTACKS"
The statement included, "The E3 leaders are horrified by Iran's indiscriminate and disproportionate missile attacks against regional countries, including those that did not participate in the initial US and Israeli military operations. Iran's reckless attacks have targeted our close allies and pose a threat to our military personnel and civilians in the region."
"WE ARE READY FOR NECESSARY AND PROPORTIONATE DEFENSIVE ACTIONS"
The statement called for Iran to immediately cease its attacks, noting that steps would be taken to support "necessary and proportionate defensive measures aimed at destroying Iran's missile and UAV launch capabilities at their source" to defend the interests of the E3 countries and their allies in the region.
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS AND IRAN'S RETALIATIONS
On February 28, while negotiations were ongoing between Tehran and Washington, Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran. In response, Iran targeted certain regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, where US bases are located, with attacks on identified targets. In the US-Israel attacks, numerous high-ranking officials, including Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, were killed. The Iranian Red Crescent reported that 201 people lost their lives and 747 were injured in the bombings targeting the country.
