The Denizli Police Department made a statement regarding the fistfight between police officer and businessman Berzan Taşer in traffic. It was reported that the driver, who got into a traffic accident with material damage while leaving work in his private vehicle, had a dispute with the police officer, and that their relatives filed complaints against each other.
In Denizli, it is claimed that a female driver slowed down her vehicle to give way to a pedestrian while driving with her children. At that moment, a police officer coming from behind crashed into the vehicle, failing to maintain a safe distance. When the woman's husband arrived at the scene, a dispute broke out between him and the police. As the argument escalated, the police officer and the woman's husband ended up fighting. It was noteworthy that bystanders recorded the incident with their mobile phones without intervening.
"YOU CANNOT HIT LIKE THIS IN FRONT OF YOUR CHILDREN"
The incident caused a significant stir on social media, and Expert Dr. Dağıstan Ayan explained that the person involved in the fight was his brother-in-law.
Ayan used the following statements in his post:
"The person in this video is my sister's husband. He is a respected businessman in Denizli. He is perhaps one of the most gentle and kind people you will ever meet in this world. My sister slows down to give way to a pedestrian while driving with her children, and this police officer, coming too fast, fails to maintain a safe distance and crashes into the car from behind. Then my brother-in-law arrives at the scene. Amid the discussions, unfortunately, these images emerge. Regardless of the circumstances, you cannot hit a person in front of your children and wife. You are a public servant. If there is a crime, you can call for backup if necessary; you carry out the legal process. What does it mean to hit someone?"
ACCIDENT AFTER WORK
Following the emergence of the incident, a statement was made by the Denizli Police Department. The statement indicated that a police officer on duty at the Honaz District Police Department was involved in a traffic accident with material damage after work hours on Şehit Öğretmen Yusuf Batur Street in the Yenişehir neighborhood yesterday.
MUTUAL COMPLAINTS WERE FILED
In the statement regarding the incident, it was reported that a dispute arose between the police officer and the relatives of the driver after the accident:
"After the accident, an incident of threats, insults, and intentional injury occurred between the police officer and two individuals who were relatives of the driver who arrived at the scene, and both parties stated that they filed mutual complaints at the police station.
An administrative and judicial investigation has been initiated regarding the mentioned incident."
