The Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, stated in a live broadcast program that teacher appointments will be made based on the 2024 KPSS score, but the exact number of positions will be clarified after the budget discussions.
The Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, made striking statements regarding teacher appointments during a live broadcast program he attended. Minister Tekin stated that teacher appointments will be made with the 2024 KPSS score, but the exact number of positions will be clarified after the budget discussions.
Minister Tekin's statement on the matter is as follows:
"THERE WILL BE APPOINTMENTS AFTER THE NUMBER IS KNOWN IN 2024"
"This year we will employ a certain number of teachers. We did not make any appointments with the 2024 exam. There is still nothing regarding the number. The number of personnel to be employed in the public sector will be determined in the budget discussions. There will be appointments in 2024 after the number is known.
"TEACHER SHORTAGE WILL ALWAYS EXIST"
The teacher shortage will always exist. There are excess teachers in some branches, while there is a need for teachers in others. We have 1 million 100 thousand teachers in the Ministry, including administrators.
CONTRACTUAL AND PAID TEACHING
We are struggling to employ teachers in certain regions of our country. Our appointed colleagues were entering the transfer process for various reasons. We have tried to take measures to address this. The Constitutional Court canceled this transfer period because it was against the principle of equality. We introduced contractual teaching in the name of ensuring equal opportunities in education. Here, after working for 3 years, they can be included in the transfer situation. Paid teaching is our way of employing in areas where we face a shortage of teachers. It is a form of teaching done in exchange for extra lesson fees. There is no legal basis for this. In fact, they will be paid according to the number of classes they teach. Under normal circumstances, they compare themselves to others because they think of it like a position. We thank them for their efforts, but this is its status."
