The General Directorate of Meteorology announced that strong winds and storms are expected in the Marmara Region starting tomorrow morning. While winds are expected to reach speeds of up to 80 km/h locally around Istanbul, Kırklareli, Edirne, Tekirdağ, Yalova, Kocaeli, and Sakarya, authorities warned of precautions against adverse conditions such as transportation disruptions, fallen trees, and roofs being blown off.
The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) warned citizens against the strong wind and storm expected to be effective across the Marmara Region.
STRONG STORM EXPECTED IN 7 PROVINCES
In a statement from the MGM Istanbul Regional Forecast and Warning Center, it was reported that the storm would intensify across the region starting from tomorrow morning. The wind is expected to blow strongly from the north and northeast (poyraz) directions, occasionally reaching storm force, in Istanbul, Kırklareli, Edirne, Tekirdağ, Yalova, Kocaeli, and Sakarya.
WIND MAY REACH 80 KM/H
In the statement made by the General Directorate of Meteorology, it was emphasized that wind speeds could reach 50 to 70 kilometers per hour, and in some places up to 80 kilometers per hour.
CALL FOR PRECAUTIONS MADE
Authorities noted that the public and relevant parties should be careful and take precautions against possible disruptions such as transportation disruptions, roof blow-offs, and falling trees and poles that may occur with the storm.
