Street Animal Regulation in the Turkish Parliament: The first 5 articles of the proposal were approved.

The first five articles of the Law Proposal Amending the Animal Protection Law, which includes regulations for stray animals, were approved in the Turkish Grand National Assembly General Assembly without disrupting the current HTML.

"DEFINITIONS OF OWNED AND STRAY ANIMALS WILL BE ESTABLISHED"

The discussions on the Law Proposal Amending the Animal Protection Law, which includes regulations for stray animals and consists of 17 articles, lasted for 14 hours. The first five articles of the law proposal were approved in the Turkish Grand National Assembly General Assembly.

With the proposal, in the works related to stray animals, there will be no room for doubt, and in order for cats and dogs to be considered as owned animals, it will be mandatory to register them in the database of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry within the scope of the Veterinary Services, Plant Health, Food and Feed Law. Therefore, the concepts of "owned animal" and "stray animal" will be clearly defined.

"EUTHANASIA PROCEDURE IN CASES OF IRRECOVERABLE CONDITIONS"

For dogs taken to nursing homes that pose a danger to the life and health of humans and animals, and whose negative behaviors cannot be controlled, have contagious or untreatable diseases, or are prohibited from being adopted, the provisions of Article 9 of the Veterinary Services, Plant Health, Food and Feed Law, which states "Euthanizing animals is prohibited. However, in cases of diseases that cause pain and suffering to animals or in cases of incurable diseases, in order to prevent an acute contagious animal disease or for eradication purposes, or in cases that pose a risk to human health and where behaviors pose a danger to the life and health of humans and animals and cannot be controlled, euthanasia may be decided by a veterinarian. The euthanasia procedure is performed by a veterinarian or under the supervision of a veterinarian" will be applied.
