CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE
The summit's final declaration stated that Ukraine contributes to transatlantic security and emphasized the unwavering support of allies for Ukraine's defense of its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The declaration noted that European allies and Canada now finance the majority of security assistance to Ukraine through bilateral and multilateral mechanisms, stressing that this support must be fair, predictable, and sustainable in the long term.
70 BILLION EUROS FOR 2026, SAME COMMITMENT FOR 2027
NATO countries committed to providing a total of 70 billion euros in military equipment, aid, and training support to Ukraine throughout 2026. The declaration stated that sovereign decisions to maintain at least the same level of support in 2027 were confirmed.
It also welcomed the European Union's decision to provide multi-year financing to the Kyiv government through the Ukraine Support Credit mechanism, conveying the message that support for Ukraine will continue within a long-term strategy.
NUCLEAR AND STRAIT OF HORMUZ CALL TO IRAN
The final declaration also included notable statements regarding Iran. While stating that the alliance will continue to adapt to strategic competition, hybrid threats, and crises affecting the security environment, allies once again emphasized that Iran should never possess nuclear weapons.
The declaration also called on Iran to fully respect freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which is critically important for global energy and trade.
