The death of Volkan Konak, known as "Son of the North," who collapsed on stage, has plunged Turkey into mourning. In response, singer and doctor Ferhat Göçer made a statement that has sparked much discussion. Göçer said, "I have repeatedly warned both hotel officials and government authorities that there should be a CPR team capable of professionally intervening in the event of a heart attack on such nights."

The artist Volkan Konak suddenly fell ill during a concert at a hotel in the town of Iskele, in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), where he performed as part of the holiday program the night before last. The artist, who received CPR on stage, was taken to Gazimağusa State Hospital. It was reported that Konak was brought to the hospital at 00:17, having already passed away. A team of specialist doctors provided advanced life support for 25 minutes. However, despite all interventions, no response was obtained, and it was announced that the artist had passed away at 00:42.

THAT YOUNG MAN GREW UP AND BECAME A DOCTOR

It was revealed that the first intervention on stage for Volkan Konak was made by Dr. Ahmet Görkem Yasak, who supported him while he was a medical student. Dr. Yasak wrote on social media, "It was 20 years ago. You came to our student dormitory and gave us your phone number, saying 'Call me if you need anything, young people.' The young man you helped grew up and became a doctor. He tried to save you in your last moments. You sang the 'Mağusa Limanı' folk song the best. You never left us in Mağusa. Farewell, son of the north."

"I AM DEEPLY SADDENED BY THE LOSS OF VOLKAN KONAK"

While no clear information has yet come regarding Volkan Konak's death, singer and also a doctor Ferhat Göçer made a striking statement on his social media account regarding the artist's death. Göçer's statement was as follows: "As a friend, an artist, a physician, and the president of MSG (Musical Works Owners Group Professional Union) and the Federation, I am deeply saddened by the loss of Volkan Konak. But I am also very angry and thoughtful; I believe that the TRNC police should conduct an urgent investigation into Volkan Konak's death."

"I HAVE WARNED GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS REPEATEDLY"

As an artist who has been performing in Cyprus for years, especially on such nights and in crowded organizations, I have repeatedly warned both hotel officials and government officials that there must be an ambulance and a CPR team that can professionally intervene in case of a heart attack.

"IT TOOK 1 HOUR TO REACH THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT"

From the moment Volkan Konak fell on stage, it took 1 hour for him to reach the hospital's intensive care unit, despite rapid CPR being applied by a professional team. In such situations where every second is precious, a delay like this is inexcusable when CPR should be performed as quickly as possible while transferring to the hospital.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED

On the other hand, the TRNC police announced that an investigation has been initiated regarding Konak's death on stage. It was reported that the exact cause of death would be determined through further examinations.

HE WILL BE BURIED IN HIS HOMETOWN TRABZON

Volkan Konak's funeral will be taken to his hometown Maçka in Trabzon after the noon prayer to be held today at Levent Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque. He will be buried next to his father in the family cemetery tomorrow.
