Aybüke Pusat, the lead actress of the series Teşkilat aired on TRT 1, also supported the boycott. Following the backlash she received, Pusat deleted her post.
The Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, was arrested and sent to Silivri Prison as part of a corruption investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB). Following this, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel called for a boycott of certain brands.
As the number of brands increased over time, a general call for boycott was made today. Students on social media supported the boycott initiated by Özgür Özel, asking for support for their 'economic boycott' campaign that they will start on April 2, after the Ramadan holiday. University students stated in their social media call, "We are using our economic power, taking a one-day break from consumption after the holiday," and suggested not buying anything on April 2.
