THEY WILL ONLY DRINK WATER
Students reacting to Israel's cessation of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip since March 2 emphasized that they are in solidarity with those who have died of hunger in Gaza. The students, who aim to continue their hunger strike until their demands are met, stated that they will only consume water during this period.
HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN GAZA DEEPENS
After the end of the first phase of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas, Israel halted the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip starting from March 2. Since the Israeli army's attacks began on October 7, 2023, approximately 2 million people have been displaced in the Gaza Strip, which has a population of 2.3 million. Israel, targeting civilian infrastructure and hospitals, is causing a humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
NO ELECTRICITY, BORDER GATES CLOSED
The cutting off of water and electricity supply to the region and the closure of border gates are further deepening the difficult conditions faced by Palestinians in Gaza. The Israeli army resumed its violent attacks on the morning of March 18, following the ceasefire that came into effect in the Gaza Strip on January 19.
Since the resumption of attacks by the Israeli army, 2,749 Palestinians, mostly elderly, women, and children, have lost their lives, and 7,607 people have been injured. The number of Palestinians who have died in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has risen to 52,862, while the number of injured has reached 119,648.
