The "Accurate Journalism and Media Ethics" book, prepared by the Presidency's Communication Directorate to facilitate the work of media professionals, has been published in English and Kurdish. THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE WORK TO DATEAccording to a statement from the Presidency's Communication Directorate, the book, which includes principles compiled and systematized within the framework of global examples, is the most comprehensive work among the publications of the Communication Directorate to date, both in terms of its content and the number of languages it has been translated into. The book serves as a guide for media professionals in maintaining accurate journalism standards and providing reliable information to the public, and it is also an important resource for those looking to improve media literacy and access accurate information. The book consists of 5 chapters titled "Professional Membership," "News Source," "Presentation of News," "Right to Correct News and Response," and "Journalist's Use of Social Media," aiming to contribute to accurate and reliable journalism. INTRODUCTION WRITTEN BY FAHRETTIN ALTUNFahrettin Altun, the President of the Communication Directorate, who penned the introduction of the book, stated that moral codes shaped around values such as accuracy, honesty, independence, objectivity, and impartiality have emerged as the main media ethics standards. Altun expressed that an effort is being made to create a reliability based on the moral codes that should regulate media activities, emphasizing that the issues and discussions regarding media ethics today have taken on a different dimension as conventional media has been surpassed by the speed and prevalence of internet media and social media. Altun noted that ethical issues caused by information pollution, disinformation, fake news, privacy violations, and hate speech, as well as advertising, copyright, and commercial orientations, are encountered in traditional media, internet media, and social media. He stated, "Especially social media and internet media present environments where professional ethics are ignored, reputation is consumed, and therefore many violations occur." Pointing out that abuses and ethical violations have increased in communication environments where individuals who are not professional press workers are also involved in content production, Altun remarked, "The media, which plays an important role in individuals' right to access information and news, and thus in strengthening democracy, can only fulfill this function through professional productions that do not deviate from ethical principles." "THE GREATEST RESPONSIBILITY IN UPHOLDING MEDIA ETHICS UNDOUBTEDLY FALLS ON JOURNALISTS"Emphasizing that the systematic implementation of these principles will genuinely reveal the vital role of accurate and reliable journalism for democracy, Altun stated: "As our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has expressed, 'The transmission of truth in its most unadulterated form to the reader and viewer is indispensable for this profession.' The greatest responsibility in upholding media ethics undoubtedly falls on journalists. Press members who do not deviate from media ethics will continue to be the guarantee of the profession's respectability and reliability. As the Presidency's Communication Directorate, I believe that this guide, prepared with principles compiled and systematized within the framework of international examples regarding media ethics, will be an important resource for media professionals and researchers. I thank those who contributed to the preparation of this work and wish success to our press members who uphold media ethics and do not deviate from the line of truth." THE PUBLICATIONS OF THE COMMUNICATION DIRECTORATE HAVE REACHED 10 LANGUAGESIn a post on his social media account, Altun also shared, "Previously prepared in addition to Turkish in English, Arabic, Azerbaijani Turkish, Russian, Spanish, German, French, and Greek, the Communication Directorate's publishing activities have now reached 10 languages with the Kurdish translation of the 'Accurate Journalism and Media Ethics' book."
