Protesters affiliated with the terrorist organization PKK took to the streets once again under the pretext of protesting the appointment of trustees to municipalities in Batman, turning the city into a battlefield. The protesters clashed with the police and launched fireworks. PKK sympathizers also looted a chain supermarket, and many people were detained during the ensuing events.

Following the appointment of a trustee to the Esenyurt Municipality in Istanbul last week, the same decision for the Mardin Metropolitan, Batman, and Halfeti Municipalities has led to protests in many cities. Protests in Batman have been ongoing for days.
