In the deepening crisis within CHP due to the court's absolute nullity decision, attention is on the congress process. Former SHP Chairman Murat Karayalçın announced that Özgür Özel presented a surprise solution formula by telling Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, "Let's both step down, let Murat Karayalçın lead the party until the congress."
Former Deputy Prime Minister and SHP Chairman Murat Karayalçın shared groundbreaking information about the crisis within CHP and backdoor diplomacy. Speaking to İklim Öngel from Cumhuriyet newspaper, Karayalçın's statements revealed for the first time the surprising proposal Özgür Özel brought to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to resolve the crisis.
A SURPRISE PROPOSAL FROM ÖZEL TO KILIÇDAROĞLU
According to Karayalçın, on Saturday, May 23, a highly critical phone conversation took place between Özgür Özel and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. During this call, Özel made an unexpected offer to Kılıçdaroğlu to untie the knot:
"LET BOTH OF US STEP DOWN..."
Stating that he was unaware of this proposal, Karayalçın described a communication breakdown he experienced around those days: "On the day the police entered the Headquarters, I called Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, but he didn't return my call. I was very saddened, of course. I had called Kemal Bey without knowing Özel's proposal, maybe he associated it with that, but ultimately it didn't happen."
"WE WERE PUSHED INTO A TRAP"
Assessing not only Özel's proposal but also the ways out of the legal and political predicament the party was in, the experienced politician emphasized his concern over claims of internal division. Stressing that the crisis could be "resolved together," Karayalçın made a historic call to all party members:
"We experienced a political usurpation. The duties and authorities of the CHP Chairman and elected administrators were taken away through this usurpation. We were pushed into a pit, a trap was set. I believe it is necessary to continue staying in the party. All paths may be blocked. We must resist until every party member, every voter can say, 'Everything has been done, there is no solution left.'"
