Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati stated that he is making efforts to achieve a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, saying, "We are doing our best to achieve a ceasefire in the coming hours or days." Another development regarding the ceasefire was announced by the Israeli press. While efforts to establish a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah continue, the Israeli press shared a draft regarding the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah. The U.S. proposal for a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah begins with a 60-day implementation period, during which the Lebanese army is expected to be deployed along the border. "THE ISRAELI ARMY WILL LEAVE LEBANON WITHIN 7 DAYS"The draft states, "The Israeli army will leave Lebanon within 7 days after the cessation of hostilities" and "The Lebanese army will be deployed along the border and will confiscate weapons belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon." It was noted that the UN peacekeeping force would facilitate this change in position. Ultimately, it is expected that 10,000 Lebanese soldiers will be deployed along the Israeli border. The draft also mentions that at the end of the 60 days, Israel and Lebanon will conduct indirect negotiations through the U.S. to fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and resolve border disputes. AN INTERNATIONAL MONITORING AND IMPLEMENTATION MECHANISM WILL BE ESTABLISHEDThe draft includes the establishment of a new International Monitoring and Implementation Mechanism (IMEM) led by the U.S., which will include Italy, France, Germany, Spain, the UK, UNIFIL, and regional countries. The draft states that "Israel's actions against border violations will be guaranteed, and it will be able to respond to threats coming from Lebanese territory." It also mentions that if Lebanon or IMEM does not intervene in arms shipments or production, Israel will be allowed to strike those targets after consulting with the U.S. The draft states that Israel will continue to conduct intelligence flights over Lebanon, but these flights will not be visible to the naked eye or exceed the sound barrier.
