The General Director of the State Theaters, Tamer Karadağlı, spoke for the first time years later about the footage of his involvement in the Gezi Park protests. In an interview he gave at Gezi Park, Karadağlı stated, "People want to make their voices heard; I have been here for days." In his statement today, he drew attention by saying, "I went to Gezi, but I quickly realized that the issue was not about the trees."
The General Director of State Theatres, Tamer Karadağlı, has frequently been on the agenda in the context of the legal process and the recent investigation against Ayşe Barım, due to footage taken during the Gezi Park protests in 2013.
"PEOPLE NO LONGER WANT TO REMAIN SILENT"
At that time, Karadağlı, who said, "I believe that the rising voice should be heard. People no longer want to remain silent. They want to make their voices heard, and I support that," responded to the question, "So you will continue to be in Gezi Park?" with, "I have been here for days."
Breaking his silence years later regarding the footage, the General Director of State Theatres, Tamer Karadağlı, stated in a statement today, "Yes, I went to Gezi. Like the thousands of people who were there at that time. However, I quickly realized that the issue was not about the trees. When I saw the political dimension of the event and the supporters of terrorist organizations in the field, I was once again not there."
