CRUDE OIL TANKER DRIFTED
The 274-meter-long Barbados-flagged crude oil tanker named 'ZEPHYR PROSPER', passing through the Dardanelles Strait, began drifting off the coast of Çanakkale due to insufficient power generation from its engine. STRAIT TRAFFIC STOPPED FOR HOURS
Tugboats 'KURTARMA-10', 'KURTARMA-18', and 'KURTARMA-20' belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety were dispatched to the area. Other vessels transiting the strait were informed. While the operation continued, the strait traffic was opened to south-north one-way vessel traffic as of 11:10. At 15:30, north-south vessel traffic was opened.
The ship was towed by a pilot captain and tugboats and safely anchored at the Şevketiye Anchorage Area.
