Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, whom his son Yair insulted.

According to a statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, Prime Minister Netanyahu reacted to Macron's announcement that they might recognize a Palestinian state, stating that they strongly oppose the establishment of Palestine.

"ISRAELIS OPPOSE THE PALESTINIAN STATE"

Netanyahu, in the phone call he made after his son Yair insulted Macron and the tension caused by his own social media post, claimed that Israelis largely oppose the Palestinian state, stating that this has been a policy he has followed for a long time.

"THE SUFFERING OF GAZANS MUST END"

French President Emmanuel Macron stated in a post on X regarding the conversation that he conveyed to Netanyahu that "the suffering of civilians in Gaza must come to an end."

Macron noted that he told Netanyahu that they support the security of Israel and Israelis, sharing the view that "just like the complete release of hostages, the disarmament of Hamas is an important priority."

Macron emphasized that opening all crossing points to the Gaza Strip for humanitarian aid is vital for Gazan civilians, stating, "I hope the coming hours will allow for such a solution and the release of more hostages."

WHAT DID MACRON SAY?

French President Macron, in an interview with France 5 channel after his two-day visit to Egypt, stated, "We must move towards recognizing (Palestine), and we can achieve this in the coming months."

Macron mentioned that they aim to finalize the issue of recognizing Palestine at an international conference for a two-state solution, which they will co-chair with Saudi Arabia.

Following Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the number of countries recognizing Palestine increased to 146, with decisions made by countries such as Spain, Norway, Ireland, Slovenia, Armenia, the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Barbados.

NETANYAHU'S SON INSULTED MACRON

Israeli Prime Minister's son Yair Netanyahu insulted Macron, who announced that they might recognize a Palestinian state, with the words "To hell with you!" on his X account.

In his post where he insulted the French President, Yair also included statements like, "Yes to the independence of New Caledonia! Yes to the independence of French Polynesia! Yes to the independence of Corsica! Yes to the independence of the Basque Country! Yes to the independence of French Guinea!"

Prime Minister Netanyahu stated in a post on X that although he found his son Yair Netanyahu's insult to Macron "unacceptable," he noted that his son is "a true Zionist who cares about the future of his country."
