Tension in court during the money laundering trial.

The trial of 28 defendants, including Dilan Polat, who was released on an interim ruling after being arrested on charges of money laundering and facing up to 40 years in prison, continues. The second hearing of the case is being held at the Anadolu Courthouse 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance in Kartal.

It was requested that 28 defendants, including Dilan and Engin Polat, four of whom are in custody, be sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison for 'Establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime', 'Money laundering of assets derived from crime', and 'Violating the law on organizing betting and games of chance in football and other sports competitions'. In its interim ruling, the court decided to release the detained defendants Engin Polat, Sezgin Polat, Alper Kürşat Polat, and Ahmet Gün.

In the second hearing of the case at the Anadolu 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance, Dilan Polat, Engin Polat, Sezgin Polat, Kürşat Polat, Sıla Doğu, and Can Doğu attended. Some defendants who are not in custody and their lawyers were also present in the courtroom. Detained defendant Emre Çiftçi participated in the hearing via SEGBİS (Audio and Visual Information System) from Edirne E-Type Closed Prison. The hearing started around 10:30 AM.

SLEPT IN COURT

According to journalist Emrullah Erdinç, while the defense was being made, one of the defendants, Gürsel Yılmaz, was removed from the courtroom by the Presiding Judge with the remark, "You must be sleepy." After lawyer Hüseyin Kaya objected to the situation, the Presiding Judge said, "If he won't sleep, he can come back."

TENSION BETWEEN WITNESS AND DEFENSE ATTORNEY

Witness Aygül Yıldırım, who is detained for another crime, began to recount what she knew. Yıldırım stated that the illegal betting advertisements in Yürekli were made by Yunus Sedat Aydın in Ankara, saying, "The advertisements were distributed from a café in Ankara. Mustafa Özal and Neslim Güngen wanted me to close my account. I only know Mustafa Özal from the Polats. Mustafa controls the accounts of 600 influencers and makes illegal betting advertisements."

The Presiding Judge said, "You mentioned Veysel Şahin and Derkan Başer in your statement." The witness replied, "Look at Engin Polat's accounts. Mustafa Özal acquired property within a year. The income he obtained from virtual betting can be revealed by looking at his accounts."

When the Presiding Judge asked, "Who told you this?" the witness Yıldırım replied, "Yunus Sedat Aydın." The defense attorney asked, "Do we have any information on this matter?" The witness responded, "Yes, we do. I will share it when the time comes."

After the Presiding Judge said, "What do you mean when you say 'when the time comes'? You are in court, you need to explain now," the witness Yıldırım insisted, "I will explain when the time comes."

The defense attorney asked, "How did Mustafa Özal offer you the illegal betting advertisement? Did he do it from his own phone?" The witness replied, "No, he offered it from a different line. If I had written evidence, I would have provided it." The defense attorney then asked, "What is your degree? After all, you are a programmer." When the witness Yıldırım did not answer the question, the defense attorney remarked, "Everyone has become a programmer," and returned to his seat, after which the witness also left the stand.
