At the memorial ceremony held for Yeşilçam's master Kadir İnanır at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage, Kenan Evren was booed during a slideshow presentation. A person shouting, "Don't do this, this is a funeral. You cannot boo the former Chief of General Staff," was booed by the audience and escorted out.
Kadir İnanır, the stern-faced, tall leading man of Yeşilçam, is being sent off on his final journey today. The first ceremony for the master actor was held at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage.
The death of Kadir İnanır, who left his mark on Turkish cinema, has plunged the art world and his loved ones into grief. The funeral of the master actor, who passed away at the age of 77, was brought to the Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage where the memorial ceremony took place. His family, relatives, artist friends, and many admirers attended the ceremony.
"KENAN EVREN" TENSION AT THE FUNERAL CEREMONY
During the memorial ceremony, while a slideshow depicting Kadir İnanır's life was being shown, footage aired showing the broadcast on TRT screens of the coup declaration in which Chief of General Staff General Kenan Evren announced the takeover of the government on behalf of the Turkish Armed Forces on September 12, 1980. As the images played, booing sounds rose in the hall.
"I NEVER MET WITH KENAN EVREN"
The footage also included moments where Kadir İnanır, referring to Kenan Evren, said, "It is nothing but a massacre. The man at the head of this massacre is also a cursed bastard to me. Am I supposed to respect a bastard who aged up a 17-year-old boy and hanged him? Everyone met with Kenan Evren, but I never did. I would slap the forehead of anyone who says they didn't meet him. An ignorant bastard became the chief of general staff. What does it matter if he dies of natural causes, or doesn't die, or lives? What matters is to take an example from this and prevent such pains from happening again."
PERSON WHO SAID "DON'T DO THIS, THIS IS A FUNERAL" WAS REMOVED FROM THE HALL
After the booing, a person in the hall reacted by saying, "Don't do this, this is a funeral. You cannot boo the former Chief of General Staff."
Following this outburst, those in the hall then booed the person who had reacted. After a brief moment of tension, that person was removed from the hall, and the ceremony continued from where it left off.
WILL BE SENT OFF ON HIS FINAL JOURNEY
The funeral prayer for Kadir İnanır will be performed at the Levent Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque following the afternoon prayer. The master artist will then be laid to rest at the Ulus Cemetery after the funeral prayer.
"MY ONLY FEELING RIGHT NOW IS TO STAND SILENTLY"
Kadir İnanır's life partner of 27 years, Jülide Kural, used the following words in her speech at the ceremony:
"Actually, my only feeling right now is to stand silently. But what Kadir wanted to shout out is so great that I don't think my heart can bear it. So, even if briefly, I will try to share something with you.
Kadir İnanır is actually everyone's brother, son, lover, uncle, father, and in fact, he is the people, he is Anatolia, and he is a friend of all peoples. That's why he is Greek, Turkish, Armenian, Circassian, Bosnian, Turkish, Arab, and of course Kurdish.
"HIS WILL IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY, MY LOVE"
His greatest bequest to his homeland, whether in this world or when leaving it. 'We, the peoples, will surely establish that great peace,' he says with the world's most beautiful smile. Your will is our responsibility. One day, surely, my love. Surely..."

Speaking into the microphone offered to him, Arıca said, "I am very sad and shocked. I even struggle to say the word death. But now he has left us and gone to join his very dear friends. No film will smile from now on. He was a very important value. May his paradise be beautiful."
