Former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek thanked Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş for the resumption of the road construction passing through the METU campus after 9 years. Saying, 'I opened it in one night but couldn't complete it; you are doing the right thing,' Gökçek also harshly criticized former ABB President Mustafa Tuna, who took office after him.
A notable thank you came from Melih Gökçek to Mansur Yavaş. Gökçek, the former Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, supported the decision of his political rival Mansur Yavaş in his statement regarding the resumption of the road construction passing through the METU campus area.
In Gökçek's statements, the words he used towards another former Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, Mustafa Tuna, also drew attention.
SAID TO MANSUR YAVAŞ, "YOU ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING"
Melih Gökçek, making assessments about the road construction passing through the METU campus area in Ankara, recalled the work initiated during his own tenure as mayor.
Gökçek stated that the road could not be completely finished during his term and said he found it right for Mansur Yavaş to continue the work.
The former ABB President, addressing Yavaş, used the words, "I opened it in one night but couldn't complete it; you are doing the right thing too."
"SO WHAT IF THEY REACT"
Mansur Yavaş was not the only one in Melih Gökçek's statement. Gökçek also targeted Mustafa Tuna, who succeeded him as the Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.
Claiming that Mustafa Tuna took a step back regarding the said road, Gökçek used the words, "There is a mayor who understands nothing. Mustafa Tuna. He gave up on his own road."
Gökçek alleged that the reason Mustafa Tuna abandoned the road construction was the reactions he received.
The former Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality criticized Tuna's attitude at that time with the words, "Why? Apparently, leftists were reacting. So what if they react."
