Bülent Tekeli, a local resident who describes the underground city, said that the underground city is the first and only underground city in the region with a toilet. Stating that the underground city is completely original, Tekeli noted that no restoration has been carried out, and said, "This is Güzelyurt underground city No. 2. It is the first and only underground city in this region with a toilet. Our underground city has not undergone any restoration and stands with its originality. Hittites, Hittites, Byzantines, and most recently Greeks lived here until 1924. After the Greeks evacuated and left, these places were used as cellars and shelters. This is the first and only underground city in the region with a toilet. If you visit many underground cities in the region, none of them has a toilet."
