At the ceremony hosted by Conan O'Brien, "Anora" won not only the Best Picture award but also the Best Director, Best Editing, and Best Original Screenplay awards. The film's lead actress Mikey Madison gave an emotional speech while receiving the Best Actress award: "I grew up in Los Angeles, but Hollywood always felt very far away to me. Being on this stage today is truly incredible."
In the acting categories, Adrien Brody won the Best Actor award for his performance in "The Brutalist." His act of throwing the gum in his mouth to his girlfriend while coming on stage drew reactions from the audience. Kieran Culkin was awarded the Best Supporting Actor for his role in "A Real Pain."
Zoe Saldaña won the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in "Emilia Pérez," earning the title of "the first Dominican-American to win an Oscar." The film, nominated in 13 categories, only took home two awards in total.
Other notable winners of the night included "Flow," which won Best Animated Feature and brought Latvia its first Oscar. "I'm Still Here" gave Brazil its first Oscar victory.
The ceremony also featured a visual spectacle. In addition to the opening performance by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, Doja Cat, Lisa, and Raye's tribute to James Bond songs provided enjoyable moments for the audience. Queen Latifah, Whoopi Goldberg, and Oprah Winfrey paid tribute to the late Quincy Jones.
"Dune: Part Two" won two awards in technical categories, while "Wicked" received awards for costume and production design. Demi Moore, who created high expectations with her role in the film "The Substance," did not win an award.
