Former Fenerbahçe President and businessman Aziz Yıldırım has achieved significant success in the maritime sector. The second OPV-76 offshore patrol vessel, built by Dearsan Shipyard, which is owned by Yıldırım, has successfully completed its sea trials for the Nigerian Navy. Both vessels will be completed this year and sent to Nigeria.

Dearsan Shipyard began the construction of two OPV-76 vessels following the agreement signed with the Nigerian Navy in November 2021. After the successful sea trials of the first vessel, the testing process of the second vessel, which carries the hull number P204, has also been successfully completed.

The OPV-76, which is 76.8 meters long and 11 meters wide, met expectations with its maneuverability and open sea performance, reaching a maximum cruising speed of 30 knots during sea trials. It was also stated that it has the capacity to carry a medium-sized helicopter on its deck.

Each of the two OPV-76 vessels, planned to be delivered to Nigeria within 2025, will have a crew of 43 personnel. The ships will be equipped with advanced weapon systems such as the Marlin 40 main battery gun, Aselsan 30 mm Guard Remote Controlled Stabilized Naval Gun, and 12.7 mm Stamp RCWS. The war management system of the vessels will be provided by HAVELSAN's ADVENT.



Dearsan Shipyard is not limited to just OPV-76 vessels for the Nigerian Navy, but is also continuing the modernization of the country's flagship, the NNS ARADU (F89) frigate, and the construction of a 57-meter Tuzla-class coastal patrol boat.
