In the scope of the investigation into the Ahbap Association, 10 suspects, including Oğuzhan Uğur, who were detained, have been referred to the courthouse. Uğur, who gave a statement at the police station, argued that they did not collect money on behalf of Ahbap during the earthquake period, and only shared verified IBAN information, stating that he did not take part in the association's activities, did not witness any irregularities, and rejected the accusations against him.
The proceedings at the police station for 10 suspects, including Oğuzhan Uğur, who were detained on July 17 as part of the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Ahbap Association, have been completed. After health checks, the suspects were referred to the courthouse.
As part of the investigation, the statement given by Oğuzhan Uğur at the police station has been obtained.
"WE DID NOT COLLECT MONEY, WE CONVEYED INFORMATION"
Uğur, who claimed that his words "we are collecting money" during his broadcasts after the earthquake were misunderstood, stated that no donations came to his accounts.
In his statement, Uğur said, "As can be examined, not a single penny has been deposited into our accounts. Not a single penny has been transferred to AHBAP. What we conveyed was information, not money. We are not a non-governmental organization. We are aware that we cannot conduct such activities."
Uğur, who stated that during the earthquake process they shared the verified IBAN information of not only Ahbap but also AFAD and the Red Crescent, argued that he did not make a special call to any institution in his aid broadcasts.
"I NEVER TOOK ON ANY ROLE AT AHBAP"
Oğuzhan Uğur, stating that he never took on any role in the activities of the Ahbap Association, said, "I definitely did not take on any role in the activities of the AHBAP Association. I only shared their IBAN numbers and phone numbers, like other institutions and associations. We also shared the aid accounts of AFAD. For these efforts, I was appreciated with a Certificate of Thanks by AFAD."
"THERE IS NO RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HALUK LEVENT AND ME"
Uğur, who said he first met Haluk Levent when he was a guest on his program in 2018, claimed that they briefly met in Hatay during the earthquake period, and apart from that, there was no relationship between them.
Uğur said, "Apart from Haluk Levent, I don't know anyone from the Ahbap Association. I haven't seen him physically after 2023. In 2024 and 2025, we only had a few short phone calls."
"I DID NOT WITNESS ANY IRREGULARITY"
Uğur, stating that he has no information about the financial structure of the Ahbap Association or how donations are used, said, "I had no suspicion that the donations made to the AHBAP Association were used outside their intended purpose. I did not witness any irregularity. Since I have no connection with the association, it is not possible for me to know how the donations are used."
HE EXPLAINED HIS MONTHLY INCOME AND COMPANIES
Uğur, who said in his statement that his monthly income varies between 150,000 and 400,000 lira, stated that he has no registered assets in his name.
Uğur, who stated that he is a 25% partner in the Osis company that operates Babala TV, argued that the money movements between Babala TV and Babalayka TV stem entirely from commercial activities, and all transactions are invoiced and accounted for.
Uğur also responded to the question about the villa he purchased in Çekmeköy, saying that after the program agreement they made with Gain Media, they bought the house using a loan and are still paying off the loan.
"I DO NOT ACCEPT THE ALLEGATIONS"
Oğuzhan Uğur, who denied the allegations against him, stating that he has no connection with any organization, said, "I have not been involved in any fraudulent act. The money transfers made from our companies and personal accounts have no relation whatsoever to the Ahbap Association. All of my account movements are related to my commercial activities. I do not accept the allegations against me. I cannot even understand why I was included in this investigation."
