While the treatment of workers injured and taken to hospitals in a mine collapse in Ankara continues, the anxious and hopeful wait of their relatives in hospital gardens also continues. One worker lost his life in the collapse, while 19 workers, 4 of them seriously, were injured.
In a collapse at a coal mine in the Çayırhan Energy Facility area in the Beypazarı district of Ankara, 1 worker lost his life and 19 workers were injured. While it was learned that 4 of the injured are in serious condition, the anxious wait of the relatives of the workers taken to hospitals continues.
COLLAPSE OCCURRED IN THE MINE
The incident occurred in the evening hours at the coal mine in the Çayırhan Energy Facility area located in the Hırkatepe neighborhood of the Beypazarı district. According to initial determinations, workers were thrown around due to the pressure caused by a ceiling collapse in the work area.
Upon the notification, gendarmerie, police, fire brigade, AFAD, UMKE, and medical teams were dispatched to the region. It was reported that a total of 20 workers were affected by the accident, of whom 1 lost his life and 19 workers were injured.
CONDITION OF 4 WORKERS IS SERIOUS
The workers injured in the collapse were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulances after receiving first aid at the scene. It was announced that the condition of 4 of the injured workers is serious. It was reported that 11 of the injured are being treated at Beypazarı State Hospital.
ANXIOUS WAIT OF WORKERS' RELATIVES CONTINUES
Following the accident, the relatives of the injured workers flocked to the hospitals. The families waiting for good news from their loved ones continue their anxious wait in front of the hospital.
1 WORKER LOST HIS LIFE
Among the workers injured in the collapse, a worker named E.K. could not be saved despite all interventions and lost his life. It is expected that the body of the worker who died in the accident will be handed over to his family after the procedures.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
Ankara Governor Yakup Canbolat stated that the accident was caused by air pressure resulting from the fall of a coal block. While an examination has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the accident, it was reported that an judicial investigation has also been launched by the Ankara Western Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
