SHE WAS EXPERIENCING VIOLENCE
N.Ç., a mother of three who had been subjected to violence by her husband for some time in the Çukurova district of Adana, applied to the court, obtained a restraining order against her architect husband H.Ç. twice, and filed for divorce. H.Ç., who wanted to reunite with his wife, went on a rampage when he received a negative response.
HE LOCKED THE DOOR ON HIMSELF AND SET THE HOUSE ON FIRE
On the night of August 12, H.Ç. came to the detached house in Şambayadı neighborhood and, enraged by N.Ç.'s refusal of his reconciliation offer, first set fire to the pickup truck parked in the garden. Then, the enraged husband entered the house, locked the door on himself, and set the house on fire.
H.Ç. LOST HIS LIFE
Upon reports from those nearby, numerous gendarmerie, fire brigade, and medical teams were dispatched to the address. The fire was brought under control and extinguished with the intervention of the fire brigade. Medical teams entering the house determined that H.Ç., who was trapped inside because he had locked the door, had lost his life.
H.Ç.'s lifeless body was buried in Mersin after autopsy procedures. The investigation into the incident continues.
