In Sakarya, Irfan Sezgin, who invested believing in a fake image of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan produced by artificial intelligence, lost a total of 2.5 million liras, first his initial capital and then his money to those who called him promising to recover his funds. The victim, Sezgin, said, "They are playing with people's emotions using artificial intelligence to hurt our president and devalue him. Everyone, including my children and relatives, has turned their back on me."
According to the claim, the incident began when 56-year-old Irfan Sezgin came across an investment video produced by artificial intelligence that imitated President Erdoğan's voice and image on social media. By clicking on the link in the video and sharing his personal information, Sezgin sent a certain amount of money in the first stage. However, the fraud did not stop there.
Hoping to recover the lost money, Sezgin was then contacted by individuals using the names BAYKAR and Türkiye Petrolleri. Deceived by the promise of "We will help you get your money back," Sezgin ended up making approximately 2.5 million liras in additional payments over time, sinking deeper into debt. The victim, Sezgin, filed a complaint against the fraudsters.
"THE FRAUDSTERS CONTACTED ME IN AN ORGANIZED MANNER"
Describing the process he went through, Irfan Sezgin warned citizens against such methods. Sezgin stated, "The fraudsters contacted me in an organized manner. They deceived me by telling various lies about the money I sent. My wife has two prosthetic legs, so we can't walk on the road. We said we would buy a proper car and establish a system, but unfortunately, now we are in dire straits. We can no longer receive our salary."
"THEY PUT ME IN ABOUT 2.5 MILLION LIRA DEBT"
Sezgin, who said he believed in the AI video that was thought to belong to President Erdoğan and sent money to the opened link, stated, "After this incident, a fraudster using the name BAYKAR called me and deceived me out of 104,000 TL by saying he would help. Later, a woman using the name Türkiye Petrolleri called, made various promises, and deceived me out of about 150,000 liras. They said they would help, and in this way, they put me in about 2.5 million lira debt, starting with 100,000, then 250,000."
"WE WANTED TO HAVE A HOUSE AND A CAR"
Irfan Sezgin concluded his remarks: "They are playing with people's emotions using artificial intelligence to hurt our president and devalue him. Our citizens should definitely not believe this. After this fraud incident, I ended up in the hospital 2-3 times, my wife started having panic attacks, our family peace and order were disrupted. Everyone, including my children and relatives, has turned their back on me. They thought I had bad intentions; we just wanted to have a house and a car."
