THE ATTACKERS WERE FATHER AND SON Lanyon stated that the identity verification process has been completed and no further investigation is deemed necessary. He announced that the attackers were a 50-year-old father and his 24-year-old son, with the son currently receiving treatment in the hospital and in critical condition, while the father has died. Lanyon reported that the 50-year-old father was a licensed gun owner, possessing 6 licensed firearms, and that 6 firearms were seized at the scene.

Albanese responded to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's criticisms, who held the Australian government responsible for the attack, by saying, "Now is the time to unite."
