The national UAV Bayraktar TB2 has made another first in the history of aviation. The Bayraktar TB2 successfully performed an autonomous recovery maneuver from a spin.

THIS HAS NEVER BEEN SUCCESSFULLY PERFORMED BY ANY UAV UNTIL NOW

During the flight test, the Bayraktar TB2 UAV, which was intentionally put into a spin condition, managed to autonomously recover from this critical situation thanks to advanced control algorithms and returned to stable level flight. This maneuver, which has never been successfully performed by any UAV until now, significantly increases operational reliability by allowing the platform to continue its mission, especially in loss of control scenarios. A spin is an extremely dangerous aerodynamic situation where the aircraft rapidly rotates around its axis due to sudden instability, resulting in a significant loss of altitude. The Bayraktar TB2 UAV was intentionally put into this situation and successfully recovered from the spin using advanced autonomous control algorithms, returning to balanced flight. The ability to perform an autonomous recovery maneuver from a spin demonstrates the advanced flight control technologies, advanced maneuver autonomy, and software capabilities of the Bayraktar TB2.

ADVANCED MANEUVER AUTONOMY

The Bayraktar TB2 UAV continues to enhance its autonomous maneuver capabilities with its software infrastructure and advanced flight control systems. On May 31, 2024, it became the first unmanned aerial vehicle to successfully perform an autonomous barrel roll maneuver, and most recently demonstrated its effectiveness against loss of control scenarios with the autonomous recovery maneuver from a spin during test flights. Both maneuvers involved challenging flight conditions, and the ability of the Bayraktar TB2 to manage these situations autonomously provides significant gains in mission continuity and flight safety. These capabilities showcase the advanced maneuver autonomy of the Bayraktar TB2.

BAYRAKTAR TB2T-AI

Developed nationally and uniquely by Baykar, Turkey's first UAV Bayraktar TB2 is set to revolutionize the battlefield with its new version equipped with a turbo engine and advanced artificial intelligence systems. The next-generation Bayraktar TB2T-AI UAV, which is successfully continuing flight tests in Keşan, will serve as the best in its class in the world with turbo engine power, high speed, superior altitude, and smart flight capabilities.

1 MILLION HOURS IN THE SKY

The Bayraktar TB2 UAV System has successfully surpassed 1 million flight hours, achieving a remarkable record. With this record, the Bayraktar TB2 UAV became the first national aircraft to operate in the sky for the longest duration.

CIRCLED THE EARTH 3,742 TIMES

As the world's largest UAV company, Baykar has surpassed its American, Israeli, and Chinese competitors, positioning Turkey to hold 65% of the global UAV market thanks to its export success. The Bayraktar TB2 UAVs, which played a significant role in this success, covered approximately 150 million kilometers in the sky during their 1 million hours of flight time. During this long journey in the sky, the national UAVs reached a distance equivalent to circling the Earth's circumference of 40,075 kilometers exactly 3,742 times.

LED TURKEY TO GLOBAL LEADERSHIP

With the success of the national UAV Bayraktar TB2 in conflict zones such as Libya, Nagorno-Karabakh, and Ukraine, Turkey has reached a leading position in the global UAV market. As of 2021, Turkey became the world's largest supplier of UAVs, surpassing the United States, Israel, and China in UAV exports. The Bayraktar TB2 has become the preferred choice of many countries around the world due to its high technology, cost-effectiveness, fast delivery process, and proven effectiveness in the field. According to a report by the U.S.-based think tank CNAS (Center for a New American Security), Turkey achieved great success by accounting for 65% of global UAV exports. Turkey's innovative production approach has strengthened its position as a leading actor in military affairs as well as in strategic diplomacy and international security balances.

IN THE SKIES OF NATO AND EU COUNTRIES

The Bayraktar TB2 UAVs are entering the inventories of countries as a result of a competitive process in many locations around the world. In 2023, the Bayraktar TB2 UAV won the competitive process conducted by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense. The Bayraktar TB2 UAVs won in demo activities, surpassing American, European, and Chinese competitors. Thus, Baykar signed an important export contract with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense. Meanwhile, the geographical areas where national UAVs operate continue to increase. As of November 2024, with the export to Croatia signed on November 19, 2024, the Bayraktar TB2 UAVs have entered the inventories of 6 NATO member countries and 4 EU member countries.

RECORD LEVEL OF DOMESTICITY RATE

Since the early 2000s, Baykar has been developing the most value-added software and hardware systems in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles with a team of Turkish engineers, and is recognized as one of the leading technology firms in the world in its field with its engineering power in 13 different disciplines. The Bayraktar TB2 UAVs, whose entire critical components, designs, and software are developed nationally and uniquely by Baykar, are produced at the Özdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center in Istanbul with a record level of 93% domestic industry participation.

OWNER OF RECORDS

The Bayraktar TB2 UAV set a record by flying continuously for 27 hours and 3 minutes under challenging geographical and climatic conditions such as high temperatures and sandstorms during a demo flight in Kuwait on July 16, 2019. National UAVs continue to operate under all adverse weather conditions, including desert heat, freezing cold, snow, and storms, encountered in many different regions of the world from Europe to Africa. In Turkish aviation history, it holds the record for the longest flight duration in the tactical class, staying airborne for 27 hours and 3 minutes.
