62-year-old Mehmet Ergen, who underwent surgery due to a herniated disc in Kahramanmaraş, had the operation performed under spinal anesthesia while listening to his favorite arabesque songs.

At Özel Sular Akademi Hospital, the surgery performed under spinal anesthesia was carried out by Brain and Nerve Surgery Specialist Op. Dr. Zeki Yılmaz. 62-year-old Mehmet Ergen, who works as a long-distance truck driver, requested that arabesque music be played during the surgery. The healthcare team, who did not refuse this special request, operated on the patient accompanied by his favorite songs. The healthcare team, who chatted with the patient during the surgery, ensured that the process went more smoothly. Ergen, who listened to music and conversed with the healthcare workers throughout the operation, drew attention with his relaxed demeanor. In the footage recorded during the surgery, it was also seen that Ergen occasionally sang along to the songs.

"WE WANT PATIENTS TO RELAX"

Op. Dr. Zeki Yılmaz, who has been a neurosurgeon for 15 years and has been working at Özel Sular Akademi Hospital for 2 years, stated, "I generally perform herniated disc surgeries under spinal anesthesia and numb the lower body. We strive to provide a comfortable environment for our patients in the operating room. I love music and listen to it a lot. Here, we also want our patients to relax according to their music preferences. Since our patient is a long-distance truck driver, he listened to arabesque music more, and we applied it this way. We wish him a speedy recovery."
