In Antalya, following a brawl involving a group of women a few days ago, the women on the other side spoke for the first time. Expressing regret that the incident took place in front of a young child, the women claimed they were attacked two days prior.
Women who broke their silence after the fight in Muratpaşa claimed that the incident stemmed from a past feud. They stated that they were upset about the scenes that took place in front of the child.
In the incident that occurred the day before yesterday on Aşık Veysel Street in Yeşildere Neighborhood, 6 women got out of a black car and attacked Ayten Merkavul, who was sitting on a bench at a bus stop with her mother-in-law and 1.5-year-old child, with kicks and punches. After the incident, which was captured by security cameras and mobile phone footage, the young woman went to the police station and filed a complaint. A.Ç., S.Ç., A.Ç., N.Ç., R.Ç., and P.D., who were identified and taken into custody, were released by the court after their procedures.
"THE TOP PART OF MY HAIR IS NOW GONE"
After the footage spread on social media, many people reacted to the mother being beaten in front of her young child. Ayşenaz Çelik, one of the women who fought with Ayten Merkavul, claimed that the incident started with an attack on her a few days ago, saying, "The incident happened like that, but there is a prior story to this. On Friday, while we were sitting in front of the house, Ayten Merkavul and Z.K. came. I was standing there, there was a distance between me and my husband. Suddenly, both of them grabbed my hair together. In fact, the top part of my hair is now gone."
"MY PSYCHOLOGY WAS DISRUPTED"
Claiming that two days after the attack on her, while driving on the road, they saw Ayten Merkavul and were subjected to swearing and insults as they passed by, Çelik said, "We were going to the hairdresser for our relative's wedding. Ayten was sitting on the street with her mother-in-law. As we passed by, the car windows were open. She suddenly started swearing at us. She brought up my mother, father, and children, and when she swore, I wasn't in a good state of mind. Seeing my hair was damaging my psychology. When I heard her insulting my mother and father, I couldn't bear it. I couldn't swallow it, couldn't handle it. I suddenly turned around, stopped the car. I got out and said, 'Who are you cursing at?' and a fight broke out."
"WE ONLY FOUGHT, THERE WAS NO ROBBERY"
Stating that they were sad and regretful that the fight took place in front of the young child, Çelik argued that there was no attempted robbery in the incident, saying, "But as she said, we didn't rob her, touch her money or anything. We only fought, got in our car and left. I regret that we beat her in front of her child, but there was no robbery."
"WE APOLOGIZE TO ALL OF TURKEY"
S.Ç., the sister of Ayşenaz Çelik, one of the women involved in the incident, said they apologized to the public for what happened. S.Ç. said, "First of all, we apologize to all of Turkey. For being involved in such an incident. The person named Ayten is not as she appears. She is slandering us. Two days before this incident, 2-3 people gathered and came with her nephew Z.K. Z.K. is the ex-wife of my sister's husband. For 2 years, they have been insulting and cursing my sister wherever they see us."
S.Ç. claimed that her sister had been beaten and her hair pulled before, arguing that the events of that day were a continuation of this tension.
"WE ARE SORRY IT HAPPENED IN FRONT OF THE CHILD"
Emphasizing that they were sorry the incident took place in front of the young child, S.Ç. said, "I apologize to everyone because this happened in front of her daughter. I also have a daughter. As a mother, I wouldn't want her to be in that position, but when my sister was beaten 2 days ago, my child was also with me. My child also fell to the ground. My child's psychology was also disrupted."
Stating that they have medical reports regarding the incident two days ago and have filed a complaint, S.Ç. claimed that they were the ones who were attacked first. S.Ç. apologized again for what happened and reacted to the incident being portrayed as a robbery.
