The body of 11-year-old Feryat Nasır, a Syrian national, was found about 3 kilometers away from where he went missing in the Yüreğir district of Adana after falling into an irrigation canal. The incident occurred when the child entered the canal to retrieve his bicycle.
The body of a child who went missing after being swept away in an irrigation canal in Adana has been found. In the central Yüreğir district on Sümbül Street, a search operation was launched again to find Feryat Nasır (11), a Syrian national, who fell into the water while trying to retrieve his bicycle that had fallen into the canal while playing yesterday. Following the prosecutor's instructions, teams searching the canal, where the water was cut off, found the child's body approximately 3 kilometers away from the point where he fell into the water. After investigations at the scene, Nasır's body was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institution morgue to be delivered to his relatives.
HE HAD BEEN SWEPT AWAY WHILE TRYING TO RETRIEVE HIS BICYCLE THAT FELL INTO THE IRRIGATION CANAL
Feryat Nasır had been swept away after entering the irrigation canal to retrieve his bicycle that had fallen into the water while playing on Sümbül Street. At that moment, his brother Beşir Nasır (13), who saw him struggling in the water, jumped into the irrigation canal.
Beşir was rescued from the water by local citizens, while Feryat was swept away and lost from sight.
