DEFENDANTS OPPOSED THE CONFISCATION OF SHARESThe prosecutor requested the confiscation of the defendants' shares in Türkiye Finans Participation Bank. Defendant Memduh Boydak claimed that Boydak Holding sold its shares in the bank for 582 million dollars to a foreign bank in 2008 and argued that this sale was not related to terrorism, requesting the rejection of the confiscation request. Boydak stated that the shares are a family inheritance and requested time for their sale. Bekir Boydak, a fugitive former board member of Boydak Holding, who has a confirmed prison sentence of 7 years and 6 months for being a member of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), was captured in Istanbul in MARCH 2024. The court decided to confiscate a total of 22.34% of the shares. The executives of Boydak Holding had previously received prison sentences for membership and management of FETÖ, and the shares were transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF).
