23-year-old influencer Melissa Said, who has over 340,000 followers on social media in Brazil, was caught in a bikini after days of police surveillance. The young woman was reported to have been detained on charges of establishing an interstate drug network and money laundering.
RAIDS ON THEIR HOMES
According to Brazilian media, police raided five different homes belonging to Said in the Bahia region last week. In the raids, dubbed "Operation Erva Afetiva," high-potency drugs, scales, mobile phones, bank cards, and two cars were seized.
During the operation, police detained three individuals. Said was found after going missing for a while and hiding at a friend's house.
HAS DISTRIBUTED "DRUG KITS" ON SOCIAL MEDIA
According to police reports, Melissa Said had previously been caught with drugs at the airport and had been under surveillance since that date. It was alleged that the young influencer explained methods to avoid being caught while transporting drugs on social media and even distributed "illegal substance kits" on the street to promote herself.
"SHE WAS ENCOURAGING CRIME"
Ernandes Junior, head of the Drug Enforcement Agency, stated that the purpose of the operation was to target individuals who promote crime on social media, saying, "She was not only promoting drug use but also organizing its sale."
COULD FACE UP TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON
Melissa Said was known for making posts arguing that illegal substances should be legal on social media. The young influencer will now be tried on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering.
