Nurdane Turan, who came from Samsun to Elazığ, transformed her husband's business into a modern facility with state support. Turan united her life with Şükrü Turan, whom she met at Fırat University while studying Tourism and Hotel Management at the Vocational School of Social Sciences.
MADE AN INVESTMENT OF 1 MILLION 300 THOUSAND LIRA
For a while, Turan, a mother of three, sold local products in their businesses with her husband and sought to manufacture these products as well. Wanting to receive support from the Agricultural and Rural Development Support Institution (TKDK), Turan prepared a project to establish a modern manufacturing facility.
Thanks to her project approved by TKDK, Turan received a 65% grant support and established a production facility in 2017 with an investment of 1 million 300 thousand lira on an area of 2,500 square meters in the Organized Industrial Zone. Turan sends local products on order to every region of Turkey and has provided job opportunities for 72 people.
TRANSFORMED THE BUSINESS INTO A MODERN FACILITY
46-year-old Turan told AA reporter that she and her husband sold local products for years after getting married. Explaining that her father-in-law's shop, "Şekerci Ahmet Efendi," opened in 1969 under his own name is the oldest confectionery shop in Elazığ, Turan said, "We were selling local products together with my husband. I conducted research to produce the products we sold. I learned that there was support from TKDK. I attended their seminars. After my project was approved, I established a modern facility."
DAILY PRODUCTION OF 2 TONS
Turan stated that they manufacture all local products of Elazığ and can produce up to 2 tons of products daily when they operate at full capacity, noting that they sell to all provinces and abroad.
SHELF LIFE OF PRODUCTS EXTENDED
Describing that they prepare many products such as orcik, honey lokma, pestil, pestil sarma, and almond candy at the facility, Turan said: "We can extend the shelf life of products with vacuum systems. We are developing our business, which has served Elazığ for years, every day. Since 1969, we have transformed the business into a modern facility with the support provided by the state. This is a profession that will pass from grandfather to grandchild. We are satisfied with our sales. The products we make are appreciated."
Expressing that she enjoys manufacturing the local products of the region, Turan explained that the state offers very good opportunities. Turan stated, "We have provided job opportunities for 72 people within our business. Not only we but also those around us benefit from the support provided by the state. With this business, we are marketing our local products to all provinces in the east and abroad."
