A car crashed into the rear of a truck parked on the side of the TEM Highway, turning the car into scrap metal. The 47-year-old driver, Erol Kalaycı, who was trapped inside the vehicle, was rescued by fire crews and taken to the hospital, but died despite all interventions.
The driver of a car that crashed into the rear of a truck stopped on the roadside about 3 kilometers before the Edirne toll booths died at the hospital where he was taken.
CAR THAT REAR-ENDED THE TRUCK WAS WRECKED
The accident occurred about 3 kilometers before the Edirne toll booths on the TEM Highway. According to the information obtained, the car driven by Erol Kalaycı (47) rear-ended the truck driven by M.Y., which had stopped on the roadside due to running out of fuel. With the impact of the collision, the car was wrecked and the driver was trapped inside the vehicle.
DRIVER DIES IN HOSPITAL
Upon notification, health, fire brigade, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. After the fire brigade's efforts, Erol Kalaycı was extracted from the vehicle, and health teams performed chest compressions on him at the scene. The seriously injured Kalaycı was taken to Trakya University Medical Faculty Hospital by ambulance but could not be saved despite all the doctors' interventions.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
While gendarmerie teams took security measures at the accident scene, the truck driver M.Y. was taken to the station for questioning. Following the work of the public prosecutor and crime scene investigation teams, an investigation was launched into the accident.
