An explanation was made by the Kahramanmaraş Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the arrest of Peyman Pınar Mersinli, the mother of İsa Aras Mersinli, who killed 9 people, one of whom was a teacher, and injured 21 others in an armed attack he carried out at Ayser Çalık Middle School. The statement indicated that the mother was arrested for not taking into account the diagnosis and recommendations that İsa Aras Mersinli needed treatment at the child psychiatry outpatient clinic.
Peyman Pınar Mersinli, the mother of İsa Aras Mersinli (14) who killed 9 people in an armed attack he organized at a school in Kahramanmaraş, was arrested in Elazığ and placed in prison. The Kahramanmaraş Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office explained why the mother was arrested.
HAD BEEN DETAINED AND RELEASED Within the scope of the investigation launched regarding İsa Aras Mersinli killing 9 people, including 1 teacher, in the armed attack he carried out at Ayser Çalık Middle School on April 15 with 5 guns and 7 magazines belonging to his father, the father, police chief inspector Uğur Mersinli, was arrested on April 16, while the mother, Turkish Language and Literature Teacher Peyman Pınar Mersinli, was released.
WAS DETAINED AGAIN WHILE RETURNING FROM VISITING HER HUSBAND Allegedly, a new detention order was issued today for Peyman Pınar Mersinli within the scope of the investigation. Mersinli was detained by the police while returning from visiting her imprisoned husband Uğur Mersinli in prison in Elazığ.
WAS ARRESTED Pınar Peyman Mersinli, who was referred to the Elazığ Courthouse, was connected via SEGBİS to the Kahramanmaraş Courthouse and was arrested by the court on charges of 'Causing death by negligence' and placed in prison.
MOTHER MERSİNLİ DID NOT TAKE DOCTOR RECOMMENDATIONS INTO ACCOUNT The Kahramanmaraş Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office made a statement regarding the arrest of Peyman Pınar Mersinli, the mother of İsa Aras Mersinli, who killed 9 people, including 1 teacher, and injured 21 others in the armed attack he carried out at Ayser Çalık Middle School. The statement indicated that before the incident, the attacker had been taken to outpatient clinics on different dates, where child psychiatrists diagnosed that he needed treatment and made recommendations, but these were not taken into account by the mother. It was stated as follows:
"All information and documents aimed at determining the health problems of the perpetrator of the incident, İsa Aras Mersinli, as reflected in the file, have been obtained from the relevant health institutions. As a result of the examination of these documents, it has been determined that although two psychologists working in two different official and private institutions had made diagnoses and recommendations before the date of the incident that İsa Aras Mersinli needed treatment at the child psychiatry outpatient clinic, the mother P.P.M. did not take the doctor's recommendations into account, did not apply to the psychiatry outpatient clinics for the mentioned medical support, and thus was negligent in her responsibilities regarding the treatment of the perpetrator's psychological disorders, which are evaluated as having caused him to carry out the acts of killing and injury. In this direction, our Kahramanmaraş Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, taking into consideration the suspect P.P.M.'s negligent act in the concrete incident and the severity of the result arising from this negligence, referred her to the On-Duty Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for her arrest. As a result of the interrogation conducted by the Kahramanmaraş On-Duty Criminal Judgeship of Peace, it was decided to arrest P.P.M. and the suspect was handed over to penal execution institutions."
