The CHP's response to Erdoğan:

26.03.2025 15:00

The first response from the main opposition side to the remarks made by President Erdoğan during the group meeting came from CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir. Emir stated, "We understand that preparations are being made for an operation against the CHP. Mr. President, how do you know about the turnips? Two months ago, you said, 'The biggest turnip is in the bag,' and now you are saying, 'A bigger turnip is coming.' How do you know?"

President Erdoğan, addressing the operations against İBB2 at the group meeting, stated, "These are the crimes obtained by the security forces and the judiciary in light of the documents and information coming from within the CHP before the big turnips that are still in the bag are revealed. When the big turnips are scattered, they will not even have the face to look at their own relatives, let alone the nation." After the meeting, Erdoğan was asked, "Is the big turnip the CHP trustee?" but he did not respond.

"THERE ARE GREAT CONTRADICTIONS IN THE PRESIDENT'S SPEECH"

CHP member Murat Emir, regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's statements at the group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, said, "There are great contradictions and inconsistencies in the President's speech. On one hand, he knows that the job is dirty and foul, and that he is instructing the prosecutor to bend the wrist he cannot defeat and put them in prison. Because he knows this, he says, 'We are not involved in this.' He says, 'CHP members are bringing it, let the judiciary do its job'; but on the other hand, he is warning about the turnips. Mr. President, how do you know about the turnips? Two months ago, you said, 'The big turnip is in the bag,' and now you are saying, 'The bigger turnip is coming.' How do you know? You are the President, at the head of the executive; you are the one whose signature is on the appointment letters of the Minister of Justice and the Judges and Prosecutors Council (HSK), and all of this shows that all the evidence is coming to you, you are evaluating it, looking at it, examining it, and accordingly giving instructions to the prosecutors. You are admitting this as well. Normally, you should have no connection with the file, evidence, witnesses, complaints, or statements. If you had a little respect for the law and the oath you took, when such a matter came to you, you should say, 'Friends, I am the President, do not involve me in this, let the judiciary do its job'; but you are so deep in the file that you are able to give warnings," he stated.

"DON'T PLAY WITH OUR PARTY"

Emir, stating that the prosecutions are only being carried out against opposition municipalities, said, "We understand that the President is preparing an operation against the CHP. Today's speech has clearly revealed this. He says he will have the courage to carry out an operation against the party of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, which has its roots in the National Forces and was established on the battlefields. He says he is making preparations. Your power and caliber are not enough for that. It is neither your place nor your right to touch Atatürk's party. The CHP has made the decision to hold a congress, and it will hold a congress. Despite the slanders you have thrown, and the countless promises and pressures you have exerted on the madmen from whom you have obtained statements, our 1300 delegates will come and show their will to Turkey and to you. Do not hesitate about this and do not play with our party," he said.

"COARSE AND HEAVY WORDS"

Evaluating President Erdoğan's words directed at CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, Emir said, "Özgür Özel's grave will be dug one day; he is aware of his mortality. Each of us will die one day, and each of us will have a grave. Unless we lose our lives due to an extraordinary accident, you will have one too, Mr. President. You say, 'I will be President for as long as I serve,' so it seems your intention is to be President until death. If you could, you would have yourself mummified, saying, 'Mummify me, let me sit on the presidential chair.' You probably think you will not have a grave, which is why you are threatening through the breaking of Özgür Özel's gravestone. These are coarse and heavy words that should not even be said in a normal conversation," he stated.
