The Chief of General Staff of the Land Forces, Lieutenant General Tevfik Algan, who voted "No" for the expulsion of 5 lieutenants and 3 commanders from the Turkish Armed Forces, requested his retirement, and the Ministry of National Defense approved the commander's request.
The revelation has emerged that Major General Tevfik Algan, the Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, who voted against the expulsion of 5 lieutenants from the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) due to the sword oath ceremony at the Military Academy, has submitted his retirement application.
MoD: MAJOR GENERAL TEVFİK ALGAN'S REQUEST HAS BEEN ACCEPTED
In the weekly briefing held today by the Ministry of National Defense, it was stated that the request had been accepted. MoD sources, in response to questions about Major General Tevfik Algan's request for retirement, said, "Retirement applications in the TSK can be made within the framework of the current legislation in January/February and July/August. Approval of retirement requests made outside of these periods is at the discretion of the Commanders of the Forces.
Retirement requests made in January/February and July/August must be approved. In this context, the Chief of Staff of the Land Forces voluntarily submitted his retirement application yesterday. His request was deemed appropriate and approved."
TUZLA INFANTRY SCHOOL
During the weekly briefing held by the Ministry of National Defense, in response to questions regarding the "cancellation decision" made by the Erzurum 1st Administrative Court concerning a previously expelled lieutenant, the following statement was made: "The hearing regarding the decision taken by the Erzurum 1st Administrative Court was held on February 13. No official notification regarding the decision has yet been made to our ministry. The legal process is ongoing. The individual in question is not one of the 7 personnel expelled due to involvement in the incidents at the Infantry School. This person was expelled by the decision of the High Disciplinary Board due to social media posts that are "contrary to the structure of Turkish society."
31 TERRORISTS NEUTRALIZED IN THE LAST WEEK
In a statement made by the MoD, it was also noted, "In the last week, 31 terrorists have been neutralized. The number of terrorists neutralized from January 1 to date has reached 408. 5 PKK terrorists fleeing from the terrorist organization's shelters surrendered to the border outposts," while it was recorded that, "In the last week, 106 individuals, including 3 members of the terrorist organization, were caught while attempting to cross the borders illegally, and 1573 individuals were prevented from crossing the border. Since January 1, the number of those caught while attempting to cross the borders illegally has reached 720, and the number of those prevented has risen to 9,754."
