A new compromise formula is being discussed behind the scenes for the crisis following the nullity decision in the CHP. Accordingly, it is proposed that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu continue as party chairman and Özgür Özel as group chairman until the congress, with both sides refraining from taking steps against each other. Meanwhile, approximately 900 signatures collected by delegates supporting Özgür Özel are expected to be submitted to the party leadership today.
The management crisis that began in the CHP after the absolute nullity decision has entered a new phase. While it is stated that the tension, which has risen in recent days due to mutual statements and disciplinary debates, has started to decrease with the parties postponing their group meetings, a noteworthy compromise formula is being discussed in party backrooms.
According to the plan being circulated in backrooms, it is aimed for Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who assumed the party leadership after the court decision, and elected leader Özgür Özel to meet on common ground until the congress.
"THEY SHOULD RECOGNIZE EACH OTHER" PROPOSAL
According to a report by Başak Kaya from Sözcü, the formula brought forward by figures close to Özel and Kılıçdaroğlu envisions the parties mutually recognizing their current roles. Accordingly, while Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu continues his duty as party leader, Özgür Özel will also continue his role as group chairman.
Within the scope of the plan, it is aimed that the parties do not engage in activities against each other, disciplinary processes are concluded, and intra-party tension is reduced until the congress.
However, it remains unclear whether this formula will be accepted by the parties and whether it will be implemented.
ALLEGATION OF A NEW CRISIS IN GROUP MANAGEMENT
The tension within the party has also reflected on group management. It has been claimed that the appointment of new names instead of Ali Mahir Başarır and Gökhan Günaydın, who came to the agenda through the disciplinary process, is being evaluated.
While Faik Öztrak's name is mentioned for the group chairmanship in backrooms, it is noted that an election within the group is required for such a change. If an appointment route is taken, it is stated that Özgür Özel's team, which holds the majority, could consider the option of a vote of no confidence against the group management.
EYES ON 900 DELEGATE SIGNATURES
Meanwhile, it is expected that Özgür Özel's administration will deliver the signatures collected to initiate the extraordinary congress process to the CHP headquarters today.
While it is noted that approximately 900 signatures collected by provincial chairs and delegates from 81 provinces will be submitted to the party administration, it is being discussed that the current administration may also reference court decisions during the signature process.
Both the fate of the compromise formula in the CHP and the political consequences of the signatures collected for the extraordinary congress are awaited with curiosity.
