The 2026-YKS marathon will begin tomorrow with the TYT session. The second session, AYT, and the third session, YDT, will take place on Sunday, with approximately 2.5 million candidates participating. In the exam, where the youngest candidate is 16 and the oldest is 87, more than 600,000 officials and approximately 50,000 security personnel will be on duty.

The 2026-YKS marathon will begin tomorrow with the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT). Approximately 2.5 million candidates have applied for the exam, which will be held in three sessions across Turkey and the TRNC.

YKS FIRST SESSION TOMORROW

The 2026 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), organized by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), will be held on June 20-21. This year, approximately 2.5 million candidates have applied for the exam, which will take place in the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Nicosia, as well as in 81 provinces of Turkey and 254 exam centers.

The first session of YKS, the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), will start tomorrow at 10:15 AM. A total of 2,425,628 candidates will take the TYT.

AYT AND YDT TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY

The second session, the Field Proficiency Tests (AYT), will be held on Sunday, June 21, at 10:15 AM. A total of 1,627,960 candidates have applied for this session.

The Foreign Language Test (YDT), which will take place on the same day at 3:45 PM, will be taken by a total of 203,639 candidates. The majority of candidates will be sweating over the English test.

YOUNGEST CANDIDATE 16, OLDEST CANDIDATE 87

Among the candidates who applied for the exam this year, 921,248 will experience YKS excitement for the first time. It was announced that the youngest candidate is 16, and the oldest candidate is 87 years old.

Additionally, 20,158 people aged 50 and over have applied for the exam.

YKS TO BE HELD FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOUR DISTRICTS

YKS will be administered for the first time this year in Antalya's Gazipaşa, Konya's Ilgın, Aydın's Kuşadası, and Trabzon's Of districts.

All necessary measures have been taken for the 15,360 disabled candidates who applied for the exam, and extra time and support staff will be provided for candidates in need.

OVER 600,000 OFFICIALS IN THE FIELD

To ensure the exam runs smoothly, a total of over 600,000 officials will be on duty across the three sessions. Additionally, approximately 50,000 security personnel will be in the field during the exam.

Meanwhile, a special TYT and AYT administration will be held in Belgrade for 8 athletes participating in the World School Sports Basketball Championship in Serbia.

IMPORTANT WARNING FOR CANDIDATES

ÖSYM reminded candidates that they must bring their exam entry documents and photo IDs with them. Exam building doors will be closed 15 minutes before the session starts, and candidates will not be admitted to the exam halls after this time.

For candidates who have lost their ID card or have incomplete identification, population directorates will be kept open on the exam day.
