Following the issuance of an arrest warrant against him as part of the corruption investigation into the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, Antalya Provincial Police Chief İlker Arslan surrendered in Antalya and gave a statement to the prosecutor at the courthouse. İlker Arslan and businessman Fazlı Ateş were referred to court for arrest in connection with the bribery investigation against them.
Ilker Arslan, who was removed from his position at the Antalya Police Department, was referred to the court with a request for arrest as part of a bribery investigation.
Antalya Police Chief Ilker Arslan was suspended by the Ministry of Interior as part of the investigation conducted by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
HE SURRENDERED AFTER THE ARREST WARRANT
Following his suspension, an arrest warrant was issued for Arslan and his wife. It was learned that Ilker Arslan, who was subject to the arrest warrant, surrendered in Antalya.
HE WAS REFERRED TO THE COURT
It was learned that Arslan, whose procedures at the police station were completed, was referred to the court. It was reported that Arslan began to give a statement to the prosecutor.
ARREST WAS REQUESTED
After the statements at the prosecutor's office, Ilker Arslan, who was removed from his position at the Antalya Police Department, and businessman Fazlı Ateş were referred for arrest as part of the bribery investigation against them.
REASON: "BRIBERY INVESTIGATION"
According to the instruction letter from the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the reason for the arrest warrant issued for Arslan is the allegations of "facilitating bribery, qualified fraud, and unjust acquisition of property" within the scope of the corruption investigation against the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality.
WHO IS ILKER ARSLAN?
He graduated from the Police Academy in 1994 with the rank of Deputy Commissioner and started his first duty at the Ankara Provincial Police Department. Later, he served in various units including the General Directorate of Security, Siirt, and Ankara, and served as the Head of the Witness Protection Department between 2016-2021.
Between 2021-2024, he served for 3 years as the Interior Affairs Advisor at the Embassy of North Macedonia in Skopje. He was appointed as the Antalya Provincial Police Chief with the Presidential Decree dated 16.08.2024. Ilker Arslan was born in Sivas, is married, and has 3 children.
