The U.S. Department of State announced that it has imposed sanctions on 6 entities and 4 vessels involved in the purchase of oil and related products from Iran.
The U.S. Department of State announced that it is sanctioning "6 entities and 4 vessels that knowingly engage in a significant transaction for the purchase, acquisition, sale, transport, or marketing of petroleum, petroleum products, or petrochemical products from Iran."
The U.S. has added another sanction to its measures against Iran. The U.S. Department of State announced the new sanction decision to the public.
SANCTIONS ON 6 ENTITIES AND 4 VESSELS
In a statement from the U.S., it was said, "We are sanctioning 6 entities and 4 vessels that knowingly engage in a significant transaction for the purchase, acquisition, sale, transport, or marketing of petroleum, petroleum products, or petrochemical products from Iran."
The statement continued, "As a result of today's actions and pursuant to Executive Order 13846, all property and interests in property of sanctioned persons that are in the United States or in the possession or control of U.S. persons are blocked. All transactions involving the property or interests in property of designated or otherwise blocked persons by U.S. persons or within the United States are prohibited unless authorized by a general or specific license issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) or exempted. These prohibitions include the provision of any contribution, funds, goods, or services to or for the benefit of any blocked person and the receipt of any contribution, funds, goods, or services from any blocked person. The ultimate goal of the sanctions is not to punish but to encourage positive changes in behavior."
