Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and DEM Party Istanbul Deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder was placed under intensive care after a 12-hour surgery due to an aortic rupture. Önder's daughter, Ceren Önder Kandemir, provided the latest update on his health condition.

CHIEF PHYSICIAN ÇİFTÇİ: HIS GENERAL CONDITION IS BETTER THAN YESTERDAY

HE RESPONDED TO HIS DAUGHTER
DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan received information from Prof. Dr. Ertan Sağbaş, who performed Önder's surgery. Sağbaş stated, "There is an improvement in one of the parameters related to circulation, and the bleeding seems to have stopped. There is a situation where he is trying to breathe on his own. He responded when his daughter entered the room. These are good signs, but the issue of not pumping on the right side of his heart continues. Yesterday, former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who visited the hospital where Önder is being treated, stated, "They have extended the sedation period to 5 days, as expressed. It is our common wish for him to recover as soon as possible." Kılıçdaroğlu mentioned that Önder's values are being continuously monitored and that the hospital is making every effort. He added, "The doctors stated that the proximity of his home to here is a great advantage, allowing him to arrive quickly, and that having two qualified professors regarding this matter in the hospital is a significant advantage."
LAST FOOTAGE EMERGED
It has been revealed that Sırrı Süreyya Önder went to a restaurant in Beyoğlu alone before suffering a heart attack. It was seen that Önder left the restaurant after having a meal there. Security camera footage captured Önder entering the restaurant and having a meal.
HE COLLAPSED AFTER RETURNING HOME
Önder was seen to be cheerful but tired when he entered the restaurant. It was learned that he chatted with the staff and took photos, staying in the restaurant for about half an hour. Shortly after returning home, he was reported to have collapsed.
THE SURGERY LASTED 12 HOURS
Önder's brother, Ali Fuat Önder, stated that Sırrı Süreyya Önder's heart stopped twice while he was in the ambulance and being taken into surgery, and that intervention was made. After the first intervention, an aortic tear was detected, and Önder was urgently taken into surgery. The surgery, which started at 11:35 PM the previous night, lasted approximately 12 hours.

Önder was placed in intensive care after the surgery. The first statement from the hospital indicated that Önder was connected to a heart circulation support device.

In the hospital's statement, it was explained that 10 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on Önder in the emergency room, and a tear in the aorta was detected. "Subsequently, at 23:05, there was a recurrence of arrhythmia, and pulse and circulation stopped," the statement said. "CPR was performed, and our patient was urgently taken to the operating room, and the operation started at 23:35," it was stated.
BY-PASS WAS PERFORMED, AORTIC VALVE WAS REPLACED
In the hospital's statement, it was noted that a bypass procedure was performed on the right coronary artery of Önder's heart, and the aortic valve was replaced. The statement continued: "However, due to such a large dissection and involving the right coronary artery that supplies the heart, despite all the surgical processes being successful, the right side of the heart is not contracting well, while the left side is contracting well. After nearly 12 hours of surgery, our patient Mr. Önder was transferred to our intensive care unit with ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) support. His life-threatening condition still continues."
