In Konya, the grieving father Ramazan Taşkın is waiting as his 10-year-old son fights for his life in intensive care after being choked by a friend at school. Taşkın stated that last year his 14-year-old son also suffered from peer bullying at school and died of a heart attack. He demands that all those responsible be punished.
In the Dikilitaş Sahip Ata Primary School in the Kosovo neighborhood of Selçuklu district, a 10-year-old 4th-grade student named Yusuf Taşkın was allegedly choked for a long time by his friend İ.Ç. after a dispute that broke out in the classroom.
10-YEAR-OLD CHILD FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE
Other students who saw Yusuf collapse and faint informed their teachers about the situation. Following the teachers' report, health teams were dispatched to the scene. After the initial intervention by the health teams, Yusuf Taşkın was taken by ambulance to Selçuk University Medical Faculty Hospital. It was learned that the little Yusuf's life-threatening condition continued while he was being treated here.
"HE WAS BEATEN UNTIL HE COULD NO LONGER BREATHE"
Yusuf's father, Ramazan Taşkın (42), who explained that his son was hospitalized due to peer bullying, stated that he wanted all those responsible for the incident to be punished, saying, "I don't know what kind of issue arose among the children, but one child grabbed my son Yusuf under his arm and choked him. He was beaten until he could no longer breathe, dragged to the teacher's desk, and assaulted. I request from all state officials what needs to be done regarding this matter. I do not want such incidents to happen to another child," he said.
"YUSUF IS FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE"
Father Ramazan Taşkın explained that he was working the night shift on the day of the incident, saying, "I was called by the teacher around noon. He said my son Yusuf Taşkın's condition had worsened. As soon as I heard the news, I went immediately. When I arrived at the school, my son Yusuf Taşkın was lying on the ground, unconscious, with his heart stopped. We waited for the ambulance while the school principal performed CPR. Since my son did not receive oxygen to his brain for 20 minutes, all his brain functions and organs weakened and were in a difficult state to function. My son is currently hospitalized at Selçuk University Medical Faculty. Yusuf is fighting for his life. He is at risk of death due to swelling in his brain and has been taken for brain surgery. Last year, on April 17, my 14-year-old son Mustafa Taşkın also passed away due to a heart failure caused by stress during a fight at a different school," he stated.
"OUR SECOND CHILD IS LEAVING US"
Yusuf's uncle, Musa Taşkın, said, "Our second child is leaving us. Whoever is at fault should be investigated, researched, and statements should be taken. The school should be examined from the time the ambulance entered until it left. The children's statements, along with the parents' statements, will reveal the truth," he said.
