However, it is expected that the inflation for May, which will be announced in the first week of June, will reach its peak. According to economists, annual inflation is expected to reach close to 75% in May. The monthly increase is expected to be 3.04%.
The expectation survey for the inflation data for May, which will be announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) on June 3rd, Monday, was announced today by the Anadolu Agency. 15 economists participated in the survey. According to this, the average inflation expectation of economists for May was 3.04%. The inflation expectations of economists for May ranged from a minimum of 2.85% to a maximum of 3.50%.
ECONOMISTS' INFLATION EXPECTATION FOR END OF 2024 IS 43.95 IN MAY
According to the average inflation expectation of economists for May, it is predicted that the annual inflation, which was 69.80% in the previous month, will increase to 74.89%.
On the other hand, economists' inflation expectation for the end of 2024 in May was 43.95. The Consumer Price Index recorded an increase of 3.18% in April.

GOVERNMENT'S INFLATION EXPECTATION
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that they expect inflation to peak in May due to base effect, but it will decrease rapidly in the following months. Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that significant decreases in inflation will be seen in the second half of the year. Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan stated at the beginning of this month that they have raised their year-end inflation forecast from 36% to 38%.
